Our Story
Medallion is one of NZ’s original dog food brands. We have been making high-quality dog food in Central Hawke’s Bay since 1975.
Our products are tailored for the needs of both NZ rural working dogs and companion dogs. Traditional recipes are used as a base and then insights from science and technology applied to make high-quality nutrition specifically for dogs. We also slaughter pasture-reared NZ sheep and cattle for pet food, supplying wholesale fresh meat to other NZ pet food manufacturers.
As a service to our rural community, we offer the Farmer Exchange service where farmers swap low-productive stock for high-performance dog nutrition. By sending in tailenders to Medallion for processing when it’s convenient, farmers get quality Medallion dog food in exchange from their local stockist when you need it. Find out more.
Owners, Alastair Haliburton and Jane De Borchgrave are involved in Medallion full-time. As a local meat company, we have access to fresh NZ meat and our team’s focus remains firmly on producing dog food from fresh, raw meat and minimal additives, avoiding using meat powders and high levels of carbohydrates (including sugar).
